“For such a large footprint, the site plan and the ability to integrate the natural features as part of the sequence of arrival and the experience of the project is really commendable…. It’s iconic yet seems to fit very well within its site.”
— Gordon Gill, FAIA

“This project resonates on many scales…. It blends both terrain and figure to create quite a complex matrix of spaces at a range of scales.”
— Roberto de Leon, FAIA

SoFi Stadium is the first indoor-outdoor stadium ever constructed and the NFL’s largest at 3.1 million sf. The open-air venue is the centerpiece of a new 298-acre mixed-use development that also includes two other state-of-the-art venues—American Airlines Plaza and YouTube Theater. All three are situated under an independently supported translucent canopy constructed of ETFE panels with embedded LED lights for displaying images and videos visible from planes flying into LAX. Inspired by the Pacific Ocean and its coastline, the architecture and landscape were designed to create the feel of an outdoor venue while providing the flexibility of a traditional domed stadium. The stadium and Hollywood Park beyond are a year-round community destination providing much-needed open space for Inglewood as well as a boost in tourism revenue by attracting world-class events.
