On July 24, the Texas Society of Architects announced its 2024 Studio Award winners. These awards recognize exceptional design in both real and conceptual projects. The program is open to submissions from students and professionals, and projects of all types are evaluated together. Jurors reviewed 62 entries and awarded eight projects.

Valerie Chang Greer, AIA

Valerie Chang Greer, AIA, is an assistant professor and the director of graduate studies at the University of Utah School of Architecture. Her research investigates the intersections of design and health, and examines how places construct platforms for equity and wellness. Greer’s experience in practice has focused on the design of complex building types, including international airports, laboratories, and hospitals, and she was previously a senior designer and vice president at HOK.
Keith Krumwiede
California College of Arts
San Francisco
Keith Krumwiede is dean of architecture at the California College of the Arts. His research and practice explore the relationship between architecture and its cultural, social, and political milieus. He is an award-winning educator who has taught at institutions including UC Berkeley, MIT, Yale, and Rice, and the author of the Atlas of Another America: An Architectural Fiction, a work of satire named book of the year in 2017 by architecture critics Alexandra Lange and Mark Lamster.
Lola Sheppard

Lola Sheppard is a registered architect and founding partner at Lateral Office. She is also a professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture and has taught at the University of Toronto, Ohio State University, and California College of the Arts. Sheppard previously worked in the offices of Jean Nouvel in Paris, Peter Rose in Cambridge, and Allies and Morrison in London and is committed to architecture’s new relationship to social and ecological possibilities—not just solutions
