Collin College’s new 360,000-sf technical training center was built on a 32-acre greenfield site to support its health sciences, construction trades, and automotive repair programs. A forested area to the north is extruded down through the complex via a central spine and emerges as an entry marker to the south. The verdant conduit serves as a holistic organizer for the campus, collecting rainwater, providing passive cooling and shade, and animating the central social space. Two large terraces protected by the cantilevered building above bookend the spine and provide an informal setting for students and staff to engage with one another.
