January 1 ushered in the new TxA Board of Directors. Among them are four vice presidents:

Derwin Broughton, AIA, returns as VP of Advocacy. Broughton is a principal at KAI. A passionate volunteer in many areas, Broughton is an active member of AIA Dallas. He served as their Director of Advocacy in 2016, and brings his passion for advocacy to the state level.

Krystyn Haecker, AIA, is the VP of Professional Development. An associate principal with Mirador Group, Haecker helped facilitate the establishment of Women in Architecture (WiA) Houston in 2016 and served as the 2018 Committee Chair and 2017 Vice-Chair for Networking and Social Media.

Darren Heine, AIA, is the new VP of Communications. As president of BBA Architects, Heine is responsible for all aspects of a project including the initial design concept, programming, technical detailing, and project management. Always passionate about his profession and its values to society, Heine shares his knowledge and wisdom through mentoring young architect-hopefuls in their early architecture careers and in serving on municipal boards and committees.

Qeturah Williams, AIA, joins the TxA Board of Directors this year as the VP of Practice and Recognition. An associate and senior project manager with DLR group, inc., Williams is active in AIA Houston’s Women in Architecture program. On the state level, she has served on TxA’s Education Outreach Committee and the Conference Continuing Education Committee.
