The Texas Society of Architects is delighted to welcome Jim Susman, FAIA, as our new interim executive vice president.
Susman has been practicing architecture for over four decades and is a founder and principal at STG Design. As the firm’s leader in complex office and corporate campus projects, he has contributed to the changing landscape of Austin’s business community. He was also involved directly in the City of Austin’s CodeNEXT. Susman provides team leadership on numerous corporate campus and mixed-use projects involving nationally-known companies such as Dell, Oracle, and National Instruments.
He has been actively involved with both AIA Austin and the Texas Society of Architects, serving as the AIA Austin president in 2016. He was active with the TxA Sponsorship Committee from 2013-2016, acting as its chair in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, Susman has presented at a number of TxA conferences and events.
Susman will work closely with TxA’s board of directors to lead the Society during this transition period. The board of directors have launched a search for the new EVP, which is expected to conclude in the new year.
Thank you for stepping up to serve our members, Jim.
I’ve known Sus since 1984. He’s a perfect fit for an interim EVP. TxA will benefit greatly with him on board.
I would hope that Susman’s obvious understanding of the trials, ,tribulations, and triumphs of architectural practice would be a model for the orientation and experience of our next EVP. Helping our members to be better architects and strengthening our chapters are, at least, as important goals as our positive impact on legislation, society, and the environment. Great selection!
