Maggie Tsang, ASLA, RA, is a landscape architect and urbanist. She is cofounder and managing principal of Dept., a landscape architecture and urban design studio based in Houston. Dept.’s projects have received awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Planning Association; and the studio was awarded the 2022 League Prize from the Architectural League of New York and named 2024 “Editor’s Pick” for Best in Landscape Architecture, Southwest Region from Architect’s Newspaper.

Maggie is an assistant professor at Rice University where her research focuses on the intersection between landscape, ecology, urbanism, and infrastructure. She was the principal investigator for an interdisciplinary research initiative called, “Community Oriented Stormwater Infrastructure,” co-curator of an exhibition called “Big, Hot, and Sticky,” at the Architecture Center Houston; and is currently working on a forthcoming edited book on gardens and infrastructure called Garden Ecologies.
