Isaac Stein, ASLA, RA, is a landscape architect and architect from the Gulf Coast. He is cofounder and design principal of Dept., a landscape architecture and urban design studio based in Houston. Dept.’s projects have received awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Planning Association; and the studio was awarded the 2022 League Prize from the Architectural League of New York and named 2024 “Editor’s Pick” for Best in Landscape Architecture, Southwest Region from Architect’s Newspaper.

Prior to founding Dept., Isaac was a design lead at West 8 Landscape and Urban Design in New York and Rotterdam. His design work and research on coastal flooding, sea level rise, and climate adaptation and has been presented at the ASLA, University of Miami, and the American Water Resources Conference as well as published in the Miami Herald and Vanity Fair.
