The Texas Society of Architects introduces Krystyn Haecker, AIA, as the 2025 president-elect. Before she serves as president in 2026, she will spend this year visiting local chapters across the state and working on the Executive Committee of the TxA Board of Directors.

Krystyn is a Principal at Mirador Group in Houston, where she has worked for the last 12 years. She works as the firm’s Multi-Family Practice Leader, serves on the leadership team as the company integrator, and manages programs for recruitment, professional development and employee engagement. Krystyn looks to build communities in both the projects she delivers as an architect and the team she builds at Mirador Group. As a recognized leader in Houston, she was honored by the Houston Business Journal as a 2024 Women Who Mean Business honoree.

Krystyn’s AIA leadership journey began in 2016, when she co-founded AIA Houston’s Women in Architecture (WiA) Houston Committee. She served on the committee’s leadership for the first several years, including serving as Committee Chair in 2018. During her time as leadership, the committee established its legacy programming, pursued difficult conversations, advocated for the advancement of women into leadership and increased conduits for mentorship. Under her leadership, WiA Houston received TxA’s Mentorship Award in 2018. Krystyn served in several other capacities within the AIA Houston, including as Director for the AIA Houston Board of Directors in 2024 and the CKLDP Sponsorship Advisor for the 2019-2020 class.

Prior to joining the Texas Society of Architect Board as President-Elect in 2025, Krystyn served as Vice President of Professional Development from 2021-2022, where she oversaw several committees, was integral in spearheading a review of the society’s professional development offerings, and advocated for the needs of emerging professionals. Krystyn co-chaired the 2024 TxA Conference Committee in Houston, which hosted the TxA 85th Annual Conference and Design Expo in Houston for the first time in 10 years. The committee planned impactful events and 28 tours throughout Houston, and Krystyn led efforts to increase student engagement with the conference through outreach, volunteerism, and a student work exhibit. Krystyn has also served on several TxA Committees including  the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, Conference Futures Committee, Design Awards Committee, and Professional Development Taskforce. In 2019, she established the Texas Women in Architecture Roundtable at the TxA Annual Conference and Design Expo, as a way to bring together women from across the state annually.

As a leader in all facets of her career, Krystyn puts people at the forefront, striving for equity and the advancement of women and minorities, prioritizing the needs of emerging professionals, and advocating for a focus on the mental health of all in the profession. She looks forward to meeting many of TxA’s nearly 8,000 members over the next few years, to learn how TxA can best serve them as individuals.

Krystyn has deep roots in Texas, growing up in Austin as a proud seventh-generation Texan and second-generation Aggie. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University and received a Master’s of Architecture from Virginia Tech at their Washington Alexandria Architecture Center. Krystyn currently lives in Houston with her partner, their two dogs, their two cats, and her many, many plants.
