The winners of the 2017 AN Best of Design Awards were announced recently, with Texas projects and firms making a strong showing among the program’s 42 categories. The jury consisted of Morris Adjmi, Principal, Morris Adjmi Architects; Emily Bauer, Landscape Architect, Bjarke Ingels Group; Eric Bunge, Principal, nARCHITECTS; Matt Shaw, Senior Editor, The Architect’s Newspaper; Nathaniel Stanton, Principal, Craft Engineer Studio; and Irene Sunwoo, Director of Exhibitions, GSAPP. Chosen from over 800 submissions, these projects represent some of the year’s best work.
LTL’s work on the Contemporary Austin Jones Center was announced as the winner in a particularly strong Adaptive Reuse category. Their renovation is featured in the upcoming January/February issue of Texas Architect.
Murray Legge Architecture’s LaGrange Landscape was recognized as the winner in the Private Landscape category. A landscape intervention for a house 70 miles east of Austin, the project created a series of outdoor rooms in harmony with the stunning natural landscape.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Alterstudio’s Constant Springs Residence, recently featured on the AIA Austin Homes Tour, and Rogers Partners unbuilt work, which was a 2017 TxA Studio Award winner.
