To be eligible to vote in the May 22 primary run-off election, today is your last day to register.  Why is it important?  Here are two opinions:

  1. From Eric Liu, author of You’re More Powerful Than You Think: A Citizen’s Guide to Making Things Happen, “Not voting is voting—to hand power to others whose interests may be inimical to your own;” and,
  2. From Ross Ramsey, executive editor of the Texas Tribune, in today’s (April 23) column, reinforcing what Liu said, namely that “…people and factions that don’t vote have no juice. Nobody cares. You’re a civic toddler: noisy, cranky and a general pain in the back. Nobody is about to hand them the car keys.”  (Click here for all of Ramsey’s column in the April 23 Texas Tribune. https://www.texastribune.org/2018/04/23/analysis-poll-showing-close-race-texas-might-be-right-if-most-texans-v/)

Don’t be that ‘civic toddler.’ Grow up.  Register; vote; be heard; be influential.  To register today—so you can vote in the very next election—contact your County Clerk.  Here’s a link that can get you to every one in Texas.  http://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/index.html
