Texas Central, the private, Texas-based company working to develop a bullet train between Houston and Dallas, has announced a design competition for architecture students attending accredited Texas universities.

Student design proposals, which are due October 31, must include the following:

  • A vision statement
  • Designs for the Dallas, Houston, and Brazos Valley train stations
  • Three (3) presentation posters
  • Five (5) to 10 concept drawings

After deliberations by a panel of judges, finalists will be announced on November 7. The finalist teams will then give a 20-minute presentation to the judges, with a winner announced on November 21 in each of three categories: bullet train station architecture design, urban design, and sustainable design. The winning teams will receive $5,000 for their school and $2,000 to be split amongst the members of the team.

All competition documents are available here.
